Google AdSense Policy

All publishers must follow these rules carefully. Breaking any rules without Google’s permission could result in ads being removed from your site or your AdSense account being deactivated. If your account is deactivated, you won’t be able to rejoin the AdSense program.

Policies may change anytime, so check for updates regularly. It’s your responsibility to stay updated and follow the latest rules. Any exceptions to these rules require Google’s approval.

Invalid Clicks and Impressions

You must not click on your own ads or use tricks to increase ad clicks or views. This includes any manual or automated methods.

Encouraging Clicks or Views (Non-Rewarded Inventory)

You cannot ask others to click on your ads or use misleading methods to get more clicks or views. This includes:

  • Offering rewards for clicking ads
  • Promising donations for clicks
  • Placing ads near images in a way that might confuse users

Content Policies

Don’t place ads on pages with content that violates Google’s rules. Breaking this rule could lead to your account being suspended or terminated.

You can place ads on pages with limited or restricted content, but such pages may show fewer ads.

Abusive Experiences

Ads must not appear on sites with harmful or abusive content. Check Google’s guidelines on abusive experiences for more details.

Authorized Inventory (ads.txt)

If you use ads.txt on your domain, make sure your site lists you as an authorized seller. Refer to Google’s ads.txt guidelines for help.

Traffic Sources

Do not display ads on pages that get traffic from sources like:

  • Paid-to-click programs
  • Spam emails
  • Unwanted software

If you use online advertising, ensure your site complies with Google’s traffic source policies.

Ad Behavior

You can customize AdSense ad code, but only if the changes don’t artificially boost performance or harm advertisers. Check Google’s ad behavior rules for details.

Ad Placement

You can experiment with ad placement and formats, but avoid placing ads in inappropriate areas, such as:

  • Pop-ups
  • Emails
  • Software

Follow the policies specific to the AdSense products you use.

Site Behavior

Sites displaying ads must be user-friendly and easy to navigate. They must not:

  • Change user settings without permission
  • Redirect users to unwanted pages
  • Start downloads automatically
  • Contain malware or intrusive pop-ups

Deceptive Navigation

Don’t use tricks to make ads look like menus, navigation links, or download buttons. Publishers must ensure ads are clear and not misleading. Examples of prohibited practices include:

  • False claims about streaming or downloadable content
  • Links to irrelevant or nonexistent content
  • Redirecting users to misleading pages

Technical Requirements

Sites showing Google ads must meet technical standards to ensure a good user experience. If your site doesn’t comply, ads may be restricted.

Format Requirements

Some WebView technologies don’t work with AdSense or AdX display ads. To use these ads in apps, developers must follow these guidelines:

  • Android: Follow Google’s requirements.
  • iOS: Use SFSafariViewController for iOS 9 and iOS 10.

Google AdMob and AdX ads can appear in apps alongside WebView content if the app follows Google’s rules.
